Tights are the overlooked linchpin of your cold weather wardrobe

Tights are the overlooked linchpin of your cold weather wardrobe

Where would we be without tights when the sun sets at 4:30 P.M. and the temps drop? Surely, the answer is both poorly dressed and freezing, relegated to the likes of denim day in and day out— which isn’t necessarily an offense. But for those who seek a bit of variety, tights provide an economical diversion to what can otherwise be the winter doldrums.

Which is why I’ve dedicated an entire post to writing about the possibilities they lend to an outfit.

Even though most color assortments offered at mass market retailers are limited to black, there are some niche brands who are doing hosiery very well.  Hansel from Basel comes to mind and Hue makes ones that reliably last for years.

All of the reasons to love this oft-overlooked linchpin of your cold weather wardrobe:

  1. They are an essential accessory for fall/winter if you live in colder climates and aren’t a strict denim devotee.

  2. They are a cost effective accessory to create drama.

  3. Neutral colors and more basic outfits can easily be made more interesting.

Do you have a go-to brand for tights that you adore? A favorite way to wear it?
